According to China's Ministry of Commerce statistics, in 2005, Sino-U.S. trade volume reached 211.63 billion U.S. dollars an increase of 24.8%. The development of the trade volume between China and Latin America is more rapidly. In 2005, the trade volume growth rate is 26.1%. Among them, imported goods like the ore, coal and soybeans from Brazil and Argentina, the oil, emulsified oil and asphalt, etc. from Venezuela are showing significant growth trend.
At present, there are nearly 5% of world trade volume through the Panama Canal , 88% of trade volume from the United States and Asia, which China accounting for 38%.According to the latest data from the Panama Canal Authority's Web site. China has become the second largest users of the Panama Canal following the United States.
